Partly printed DS, signed “James K. Polk” as president and “James Buchanan” as secretary of state, one page on vellum, 11.75 x 14.25, no date. An unengrossed scalloped-top ship’s papers. Typical intersecting folds and mild wrinkling (light vertical fold to one letter of Buchanan’s first name), and faint evidence from neat seal removal, otherwise very fine, clean condition. A most handsome example of this notable and uncommon combination!
